Xerox Engineering Systems Introduces the Synergix 8850 Print System Specially Designed for CAD/Engineering Applications (September 27, 2001) Xerox Engineering Systems (XES), a leader in wide-format document solutions, today launched a new printing platform for their Synergix product line that features image enhancing MicroDensity technology. The new Synergix 8850 has patent-pending MicroDensity technology, which includes new toner formulations and fusing technologies. The company says this produces denser solids, crisper lines and more detailed images. This image quality, combined with a print yield of 10 D-size prints per minute, puts the Synergix 8850 in the company of many high-end printers typically found in production environments where professional image quality is the top priority.

The Synergix 8850 printer is the newest addition to XES's Synergix Family of Digital Solutions launched in February, which won "Best of Show" at the National Design Engineering Show in Chicago earlier this year. XES designed the 36-inch wide Synergix 8850 to expand the company's existing Synergix digital product line from its current three printer model line to four. At 10 D's per minute print speed, the Synergix 8850 is positioned to the higher volume CAD and wide-format technical document environments.

The 8850 is designed to work either as a stand-alone printer, or as a multifunctional digital solution when combined with the Synergix Scan System, which further optimizes image quality with its own scanning technology, Intelligent In-line Imaging. To further support the print system's versatility, XES's newest AccXES Controller, release 7.0, features scan-to-Adobe pdf and improved grayscale rendering.

"Our development team was looking for a way to design a mid-range printer that offers the image quality and output speeds usually reserved for high-end machines," said Marc Neiss, Director of Monochrome Solutions for XES. "The breakthrough technologies included in MicroDensity allow XES to offer top of the line output at a competitive price. I think our user community will be quite impressed."

The Synergix 8850 has a number of additional key features that improve the systems' output quality, productivity, and reliability while providing added value to customers looking for a multifunctional printing solution. Among those features are: -- A two-roll fuser, which eliminates image offset, increases print speed and performs better over a wider range of medias;

-- A bias transfer roll, which holds media in place and improves image accuracy with fewer defects;

-- Three-roll media supply with automatic switching, allowing for mixed batch printing and reducing time needed to change media sources;

-- Edge-to-edge printing;

-- Remote printer management and configuration;

-- And a unique toner that increases resolution of the finest lines while improving solid area density.

The new Synergix 8850 printer is designed to work with the recently launched Synergix Scan System, which hosts Intelligent In-line Imaging technology for more accurate scans.

The 8850 is available immediately. For more information or to contact a sales representative, call 877-XES-8212, ext. 465, or visit www.XES.com.
