FOX 21 and Platinum Studios Partner to Develop Comic Book Challenge Winner "Gunplay" "X-Files" Writer and Co-Executive Producer Glen Morgan to Write "Gunplay" (November 02, 2009)

LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/02/09 -- Following on the heels of the recently announced development of "Indestructible Man," 20th Century Fox Television production entity, FOX 21, and Platinum Studios, Inc. (OTCBB: PDOS), an entertainment company that controls an international library of more than 5,600 comic book characters which it adapts, produces and licenses for all forms of media, have announced that they will develop the Platinum Studios graphic novel and winner of the Comic Book Challenge®, "Gunplay." Glen Morgan is attached to write. His credits include "Final Destination" and "Final Destination 3," which he wrote and produced, and the hit series "The X-Files," which he wrote and co-executive produced.

"Gunplay" tells the haunting story of Abner Meeks, a Buffalo Soldier condemned to roam the Old West with a hellish curse slung at his waist -- a demonic shooting iron that forces him to kill once a day or suffer soul-searing pain.

"Gunplay" is an original property that hails from Platinum Studios' large multi-universe library that rivals the size of Marvel's superhero universe. Marvel, which was recently acquired by Disney for $4 Billion, and Warner Bros' DC Comics, which recently announced a newly-revamped business model, leaves Platinum Studios as the only rights holder to a library of comic book material of comparable scope and size independent of major entertainment studio affiliation.

Platinum Studios, Inc. Chairman and CEO Scott Mitchell Rosenberg ("Dead of Night") would serve as executive producer.

"'Gunplay' is a unique story of an ordinary man who must live with an extraordinary curse," said Chris Carlisle, President of FOX 21. "'Gunplay' is one of those rare combinations of fantastically created characters and wonderfully told narrative which creates an inventive canvas from which to play," said Rosenberg. "We look forward to making 'Indestructible Man' and now 'Gunplay' with Chris and his team at FOX 21."

Platinum Studios' film and TV division is developing "Cowboys & Aliens" with producers Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard and Brian Grazer and DreamWorks, Universal Pictures, Imagine Entertainment and Kurtzman/Orci (the writing team behind the "Transformers" franchise and the resurrected "Star Trek" franchise). In addition, Platinum is developing "Unique" with "Harry Potter" producer David Heyman at Walt Disney Pictures; "The Witchblade" with "Wanted" executive producer Marc Silvestri, Top Cow Productions, Inc. and Arclight Films; "Atlantis Rising" with DreamWorks, Kurtzman/Orci and director Len Wiseman ("Underworld"); "The Weapon" with Disney Channel's "Wizards of Waverly Place" star David Henrie; "Mal Chance" with Tony Krantz ("24"); and an untitled feature film project at Sony Pictures Animation. Platinum's Rosenberg would serve as a producer on all film projects and an executive producer on all TV projects.

Ex-Universal Pictures senior executive Randy Greenberg of The Greenberg Group helped to negotiate this deal along with Creative Artists Agency and the Rigberg Entertainment Group. Greenberg was instrumental in bringing all financing and producing parties together for Platinum Studios' recent feature film "Dead of Night," a collaboration with Hyde Park Entertainment and Omnilab Media that is currently in post-production.
